Lung Function Test

At The Sefton Suite Hospital we offer a variety of lung function tests all carried out by a qualified respiratory consultant.

These tests are all designed to give the consultant a full and thorough overview of the working of the lungs, the strength of the lungs and potential for any lung disease to be present. It will give a clear description of the respiratory system both in function and structure. 

The tests include:

• Spirometry which is a basic respiratory test designed to show the full extent of the individual's lung capabilities.

• Impulse Oscillometry testing which would be suitable for patients who find undertaking respiratory tests difficult such as older people. 

• Diffusion capacities which measure the capacity of the lungs

There are of course reasons for poor lung capabilities including smoking and lack of regular exercise,however it is never too late to change lifestyle habits.
