Thread Vein Treatment

Thread veins are common in many adults in the UK and are often cosmetically unsightly, usually appearing on the legs, face and body.

Advancement in techniques to clear this problem have been good over the past few years and the non surgical treatments now offered at The Sefton Suite include laser treatment and Sclerotherapy.

The cause of thread veins is still as yet largely unknown, however experts believe that excessive standing for a period, hormonal changes and smoking can be contributory causes.

Both treatments take around half an hour and are both non surgical. Recovery time is immediate with some discomfort faced for a very short period thereafter.

Laser Treatment

Laser treatment is a completely safe way to remove fine and thin threads on the face, body and legs. The recommended course of 4/5 sessions will leave each patient with a smooth, blemish free area with no after effects of the treatment. This is used for veins of between 1 and 3 mm and is non invasive.

Sclerotherapy

Another non surgical technique is sclerotherapy which involves injecting a solution into the vein which after a course of treatment will perish and completely disappear.

We advise that all patients discuss any questions they may have with their consultant prior to any procedure. It is important to maintain regular exercise to aid the process.

If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
