Lung Cancer Awareness Month
The majority of lung cancer cases are not diagnosed until a visit to accident and emergency due to the lack of knowledge by most people in the UK to the early symptoms.
With lung cancer being the highest cancer killer in the UK by a distance it is vital that we understand more about the disease and how we can recognise the early signs.
November is lung cancer awareness month in the UK and there are a number of fund raising exercises being carried out by companies and individuals alike. Below we have listed some of the main symptoms to look out for:
- a cough that lasts more than three weeks
- feeling out of breath
- wheezing from one side of your chest (this might make it difficult to sleep on one side)
- blood in your mucus or phlegm
- pain
- weight loss
Whilst these symptoms are also symptoms of someone who hasn’t got lung cancer it is vital to be checked out by the Doctor at the earliest opportunity.
