Breast Reduction
A breast reduction is quite simply an operation to make the breasts smaller and perhaps a better fit for the patient's body and more manageable.
The procedure can provide you with a new lease of life and it allows a fresh approach to sport and exercise and gives many patients more confidence and less self awareness.
It is important that you discuss any questions you may have with your consultant at the earliest opportunity. Patients can be affected both mentally and physically by having breasts they feel are too large or uncomfortable.

A breast reduction requires a small incision under the breast to remove any fatty tissue and is a fairly common procedure for the surgeon. It is important to look natural following surgery so therefore the nipples may have to be re-positioned during the surgery.
The operation will require a general anaesthetic and we advise that a member of family or friend collects you from the hospital after the procedure.
We advise you do not go home for a couple of days to give the swelling a chance to settle down. Most patients can return to work after about a week.
It is recommended that strenuous exercise is avoided until the effects of the operation have worn off.
If the patient is paying for their own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
