Recent letter to June Fowles - Clinical Business Manager

Dear June,

I wish to write this letter to pass on some feedback for Mr Parmar, who has been my surgeon for bilateral carpal tunnel release surgery performed on 22nd December 2016 and 2nd February 2017 at the Sefton Suite, Aintree.

From day one of meeting Mr Parmar, his empathy, understanding and knowledge regarding the problems I was suffering with my hands made things so much easier and less worrying for me.

On both days of my surgery, he was so kind, yet totally professional in every way. He calmed me down when I was anxious, kept me informed of the whole process, kept reassuring me and made the whole experience so much better. (He had his work cut out with me as I am a bit of a nightmare when nervous!)

After both operations, I had appointments to review the scars and discuss any concerns with him. Again, he was exceptional. The operations were a total success with no more terrible pain.

I just wanted to pass on my gratitude to all your staff who have been brilliant, Dr Robert Thompson, who with his expertise and professionalism , was extremely thorough, diagnosed the cause of my problem and referred me to Mr Parmar, the staff on the ward, the theatre staff and also the team at Kennilworth Road have all been outstanding.

Finally, Mr Parmar, who, I feel extremely lucky to have met and to whom I will be eternally grateful.

Kindest regards,

Jill Rogers

Mr Ken Ward Atherton (Lord)- Consultant for Integrated Medicine (Food Allergies & Intolerances)

“After 30 years of IBS which almost ruined my social life, a friend suggested a medical consultation and investigations with Ken Ward-Atherton to try to discover any food intolerances. Ken explained the sort of symptoms I could expect with foods that disagreed with me. Within a week of seeing him, I received a full report with my blood test results and this has helped me achieve a change in my diet and my life. I can honestly say that I suffered 30 years of unnecessary symptoms, had I have known about food intolerances screening I would have got tested a lot sooner.”

Mrs G (Maghull, Liverpool)

“My son suffered terribly with dry skin and eczema from a young age, it affected his school attendance and confidence. I never associated his problem with his diet but after he saw consultant Ken Ward-Atherton, who was able to screen him for food allergies, we changed his diet and his skin has improved in leaps and bounds. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone with skin problems to get tested and check their diet. In my son’s case, Ken also recommended a course of homeopathic medicine as a natural alternative for his allergies. For my son, it has been a life changing experience.”

John E (Aintree, Liverpool)

“I used to wake every morning in the early hours with stiff joints, especially my fingers and wrists. I work at a physically intensive job where my hands are needed throughout the day and the pain became so severe at points that I was worried I might need to give my job up. My son then recommended that I get checked for any food reactions that could be related to my symptoms. When I got the report from my blood test, I was astonished at the reactions and have since modified my diet with immediate improvements, furthermore on the advice of my consultant Ken Ward-Atherton I decided to undertake a course of natural homeopathic medicine which has helped to ease the problem considerably.”

Marjorie C (Kirkby, Liverpool)

Case Studies

Mr Siadankey - Total Hip Replacement

Mr Siadankay recently attended The Sefton Suite where he underwent an operation for a Total Hip Replacement.

Hip replacement surgery is a very common procedure and is predominantly carried out when the hip joint is worn, damaged or weakened.

Mr Siadankey had requested to be referred by his GP to Mr Simon Scott, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at The Sefton Suite, specialising in all aspects of hip, knee and trauma surgery. On recommendation from his wife who was familiar with Mr Scott’s excellent reputation, Mr Siadankey was initially seen at the Kenilworth Road Diagnostic Centre before undergoing surgery at the Sefton Suite.

Mr Siadankey explained,

“My experience was one of caring and wanting to do the best for me as a patient at the hospital. Mr Scott and his team were very thorough when explaining the pros and cons of the procedure and every reassurance about the procedure and rehabilitation were discussed with me at every stage.

The care I received for my procedure, post op and physio were exceptional and at no time did I feel a burden. I was regularly reassured of my recovery progress and all staff were excellent.”

Mr Siadankey continued,

“I feel incredibly positive about my future fitness now, I am pain free and looking forward to a new me! I would also like to express my thanks to a lovely trainee nurse at The Sefton Suite who helped me with my x-rays and kept me positive throughout.”

Ms Gill - Breast Augmentation

“The Sefton Suite and all the staff are absolutely fantastic, I would go through it all again tomorrow if I had too, from beginning to end the service I got was first class and continued throughout every member of staff. You can see the staff here generally love their job and enjoy looking after the people that go in there which is what you want, couldn’t have asked for a better experience!”

Ms Gill visited The Sefton Suite and saw Mr Martin for breast augmentation surgery:

My experience with the Sefton Suite prior to the surgery was excellent. I initially chose to have my surgery at Aintree hospital with Mr Martin due to having a fabulous experience with there for a previous operation. The Sefton Suite was spoken of extremely highly by my consultant and nurses and I was given a booklet and further information to read up about it. I had never been to the Sefton Suite before but after doing research on the internet it made me look forward to my stay.

My experience in the hospital was outstanding from beginning till end, I only stayed one night and actually didn’t want to go home in a rush the next day. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by a lovely member of staff who showed me to my room, the room was very clean, very private and I felt comfortable as soon as I arrived.

I was visited in the morning by four members of staff who took my blood pressure and checked my medical questions etc. All of the staff were excellent and made me feel at ease before my surgery. I was then taken up for my surgery earlier than expected where the anaesthetist and staff were again so great with me. I thought I would be nervous prior to the operation but I was so relaxed and more excited than anything.

I had the surgery and was absolutely fine. Taken back to my room I was offered food from the lunch menu and a drink as I hadn’t stopped talking about how hungry and dehydrated I was all morning due to fasting! Throughout the day and night all the nurses were checking on me making sure I was okay and bringing me anything I needed. The food was fantastic from my cheese sandwich lunch to my three course dinner and breakfast in the morning. I didn’t want to leave the next day! All the nurses came in and spoke to me for a chat and had a laugh, I felt really looked after and luckily had no pain post-surgery so it made me stay even more enjoyable!

Mr Martin was my surgeon and from the moment I met him at Transform in Crosby I knew he was the surgeon I wanted to go with. He didn’t pressure me into anything and said I actually looked fine the way I was but he understood it was due to the way I felt inside myself. My mum came with me to meet him at the initial consultation and really liked him, this was a big and scary step for us both but something I had wanted for a long time so for her to feel happy with Mr Martin made me feel a lot better. Before the surgery Mr Martin came round to see me and again I felt great and like I had made the right choice.

When Mr Martin came to see me after the surgery I felt like crying because I was so happy and thanked him because he has changed my life and the way I feel about myself so much!
