Cardiology

Cardiology is the branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the heart, a medical speciality associated with all areas of the heart and the arteries. 

Specialist surgeons will treat patients who have suffered from heart attacks or cardiac arrests amongst others and have an extensive knowledge of the area around the heart including the arteries and veins.

 There are two areas of cardiology, non-  invasive and interventional. Non invasive  cardiology deals with detecting and  diagnosing of conditions through blood tests  and ECG testing, whereas interventional  cardiology is the treatment of conditions using  invasive techniques where for example the  surgeon would insert a tube into the artery to  inflate the area to allow an easier flow  through for the blood going in and out of the heart.
