Diabetes Treatment

Our specialist diabetes consultants work with you to provide  the practical and emotional support, up to date information and clinical care to enable each individual to be able to live their life without worry of reaction.

At The Sefton Suite we firmly believe that diabetes does not stop you doing anything that anyone else could do and we will discuss with you how individual lifestyle choices such as increased exercise and the correct choice of diet can help you live a long and healthy life.

As part of our service we provide the following:

  • Initial examination and assessment
  • Information and support to help understand the impact on the body
  • A thorough range of diabetes treatment options
  • Advice on diet, exercise regimes and lifestyle changes to help each patient
  • Accurate assessment of cardiovascular risk
  • Advise to pregnant women with diabetes
  • Advice on overall management

There may be other questions you have and we advise all our patients to discuss these in depth with your consultant.

Skin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in the UK. Your consultant may advise on surgery should they believe your lesion to be malignant.

Lesions can consist of warts, skin tags, moles or cysts. Most lesions found on the body are perfectly harmless however on occasions the lesions will be malignant and a surgical procedure required.

Your consultant at The Sefton Suite will discuss all your options and how the surgery will be performed.

The lesion will be cut out completely instead of being nipped at the skin level as would be the case for benign lesions. The procedure can be performed under either a local or general anaesthetic dependant upon the area and size.

The skin will be cut around the lesion with the entire lesion being carefully removed. The cut will then be closed using dissolvable stitches.

Depending on the area that has been treated will depend on when you will be able to return to normal duties. For example if the lesion is under the arm, heavy lifting would not be advised for an extended period of time.

Please discuss any questions you have with your consultant on either the procedure or the rehabilitation. Over the counter painkillers can be used should they be necessary.

This procedure will normally be covered by the medical insurance policy but patients are advised to check with the provider prior to any treatment.

If you are paying for your own treatment all costs will be discussed and explained prior to any treatment taking place. This will be confirmed in writing along with any surgeon fees, anaesthetist fees and hospital charges prior to admission.
