Hepatology

Hepatology is the area of medicine which deals with the liver, biliary tree, gall bladder and pancreas as well as the management of their disorders. 

Initially described as being a sub speciality of Gastroenteritis, Hepatology now has its own specialists that deal with issues predominently being caused by viral hepatitis and alcohol. 

Problems in this particular area include gastrointestinal bleeding, drug overdoses, jaundice, liver disease, pancreatitis or cancer of the related organs.
