Sports Medicine (Injuries and Rehabilitation)
The most important factor in dealing with any type of sports injury successfully is the early assessment and diagnosis. This will provide the best opportunity to return to full fitness in the fastest possible time.
Alongside the regular physiotherapist service, The Sefton Suite offer a specialist sports injury service. Whatever your sporting ability, the team at the hospital understands that a return to fitness is always the end goal and the treatments and procedures that we suggest will facilitate this goal.
The Sefton Suite uses the most up to date research and treatment equipment available and the patient centred service is designed to give each patient a unique and comprehensive route back to fitness.
Our specialist sports injury physiotherapists will initially assess the symptoms and injury. With many of our team having experience of working with professional sports teams their extensive knowledge extends to all areas of knee, shoulder, elbow, upper and lower limb and hips.
The Sports Injury Clinics at The Sefton Suite not only evaluate the actual injury but also discuss with the patient the cause of the initial problem and try to rectify any future problems.
The service is therefore not just to take the patient back to fitness but to facilitate a long and trouble free sports career at whatever level. This includes warm up exercises, preparation prior to playing or training and post match warm downs.
If needs be we can refer you directly into one of the specialist orthopaedic consultants at the Hospital.
All of our physiotherapists at The Sefton Suite are members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and work closely at the Hospital as part of an multi- disciplinary team. The experienced team at the Hospital have led to many elite sports people choosing The Sefton Suite as their physiotherapy team of choice on return from injury.
