hy

  • X-rays

INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

Interventional radiology use  imaging such as CT, ultrasound, MRI and fluoroscopy to help guide procedures. This form of imaging if helpful when inserting catheters, small instruments and wires into your body, allowing for smaller incisions to be made in some cases.

Interventional radiology allows the consultant to diagnose and treat conditions without the need for inserting a scope or camera into your body or through open surgery.

This form of radiology is often used in the treatment of cancers, tumors, blockages in the veins or arteries or liver and kidney problems as examples.

There will be no requirement in the vast majority of cases to stay overnight in the hospital after this type of procedure. .

Some examples of interventional radiology procedures include:

  • Angioplasty and angiography
